Have your questions answered about therapy in Dublin and online therapy

How do I know that I need counselling/therapy?
There are many reasons why a person seeks therapy. There may be a crisis which is causing a lot of sadness and confusion. A person may need clarity on a particular issue or help unraveling complex personal issues. Perhaps patterns of behaviour that no longer work and are self destructive need to be changed or addressed. Sometimes these reasons may become apparent only when family or friends suggest that you start therapy.

How long should I expect to continue therapy?
This depends on the person and the particular issue that is being dealt with. After six weeks there is a review between the therapist and the client to assess the situation and decide on the best way forward. Depending on the person and the issue, the duration of therapy can last from weeks or months to several years.

Will my therapy be confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is guaranteed. It is essential and is at the core of my work as a psychotherapist. There are exceptions to this for example when you are a danger to yourself or others, suicidal or psychotic. Suppport links available, click here >>. Then the therapist is legally obliged to contact the individual’s GP. All of this will be discussed beforehand in the initial consultation.
